Asif Fatah Shaikh is a distinguished legal professional with over 31 years of experience, demonstrating expertise across a broad spectrum of contentious and non- contentious legal matters. His practice spans Banking, Oil & Gas; Gas Law, Property Law, PPRA regulations, Rent Laws, Employment Law, Industrial Relations, Consumer Law, Personal Law, and Civil, Commercial, and Corporate Law. He is also highly experienced in advocacy, having represented clients in civil, commercial, and corporate litigation, as well as in both local and international arbitration forums. Mr. Shaikh possesses extensive experience in drafting contractual documents, conveyancing, and providing strategic legal advice on complex issues. His legal acumen is complemented by four years of judicial service, during which he adjudicated cases and contributed meaningfully to the development of fair legal practices—bringing with him a deep understanding of legal principles and courtroom procedures. Out of his three-decade legal journey, 16 years were spent in senior roles within corporate legal departments, including serving as Head of Legal. During this time, he successfully led the legal handling of Pakistan’s first-ever LNG project, negotiating the LNG Services Agreement with the terminal operator and ancillary agreements that ensured the uninterrupted supply of RLNG for upcountry distribution and consumption. He also played a pivotal role in legislative development by authoring the original draft of the Gas (Theft Control and Recovery) Ordinance, 2014, which was later adopted by Parliament and enacted as the Gas (Theft Control and Recovery) Act, 2016, a landmark achievement in Pakistan’s energy sector regulation.
